Biography
Todd Gordon Mather received both his Master of Architecture (1996) and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from the University of Utah. After being selected as the Roger Bailey Traveling Fellow, Mather traveled and studied architecture throughout Italy. He serves on the Tahoe Basin Design Review Committee with past positions on the Park City Historic District Commission and on the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Architects – Northern Nevada.
Mather relocated to Lake Tahoe from Park City, Utah, in 2002. Since this time, he has worked with hundreds of clients creating unique living spaces that respond to each homeowner’s needs and desires, as well as solving the complex challenges posed by commercial clients. His award-winning designs in the resort mountain towns of Park City, Lake Tahoe, and Truckee are reflective of his passion for excellence in architectural design.
Philosophy
TGMA’s approach to each project reflects a careful incorporation of well-conceived and well-planned strategies for snow design elements. By the same token, these projects are also designed with the understanding that dwellings must properly respond to the arid and hot summers of mountain climates. TGMA finds success in realizing architectural timelessness in scale, form, and material among an elevated architectural context and spectacular natural environments.
Services
TGMA is responsible for the coordination of structural engineers, civil engineers, interior designers, and many specialized consultants. Throughout the conceptual and schematic design process, TGMA employs cutting-edge 3D modeling, rendering, and Virtual Reality technologies to achieve optimal architectural cohesion and to bring the structures to life for clients. TGMA clients have the option of moving through their home designs at full scale and in situ in the TGMA Virtual Reality Studio at the Lake Tahoe office.
Beyond the site planning and architectural design from conception through construction documentation, TGMA also provides permit processing, construction administration, and general contractor bid coordination.
Recognition
TGMA’s work spans from North Carolina’s Outer Banks to Utah, northern Idaho and California. Mather’s collaboration with Wired magazine’s founders on three of their historic Park City home remodels resulted in his being published in Utah Homes & Garden, Park City Magazine, and Utah Style & Design. He redesigned a highly visible Lake Tahoe office building into what some term a “daring interpretation” of the Tahoe architectural style; this work won an AIA Design Award. Mather’s design of a custom home with sweeping views of Lake Tahoe’s blue water and brilliant blue sky received the honor of cover story for Residential Design+Build magazine, and his widely recognized modern A-frame has been featured in many publications, including Dwell, Mountain Living, Tahoe Quarterly, Atomic Ranch, and LUXlife.
