Lake Forest Cabin

Tahoe City, CA | 2,590 SF

This dazzling home started and ended with a very modest budget. The design employed basic strategies to keep costs reasonable: rectangular footprint, scissor truss roof framing, vinyl windows, and painted drywall finishes. While the owners were thrilled with the hope of using reclaimed barnwood for the siding, TGMA developed a unique alternative to the otherwise very expensive barnwood.

Applying three stain colors to off-the-shelf cedar lap siding, the contractor then cut to seemingly-random lengths and artfully installed onto the shell. Maintenance will only require a clear-seal for the entire building while the sun’s UV rays will fade each board, weathering the home into a picture-perfect cabin.
