Horse on Hire

Park City, UT | 2009

With 360-degree views including three ski areas, this home features a living roof and board-form concrete walls. Green-tinted glass and charcoal-colored corrugated metal siding share their hues with the acres of on-site sagebrush and ancient volcanic rock. A red metal-clad “living” spine (Prickly Pear Cactus meets Indian Paint Brush) pierces through the home as Entry and Pool transform into a Gym that cantilevers over the hillside.

The 800-bottle wine cellar soars two stories to reach the rooftop observation deck. This home’s art is designed as directed views into the natural landscape. A cylindrical freestanding pantry nods to the Glass House architect, Philip Johnson.
